Increasingly, science and higher education recognize sustainable development and global responsibility as a challenge within their scientific disciplines and practical work. At the same time, it is crucially important for the practical side of ‘International Cooperation for Sustainable Development’ to keep in close touch with new academic trends and findings. 'Between Lecture Hall and Project Work' seeks to contribute to this communication and exchange process. Our objectives correspond to Agenda 21 and the underlying principles of the UN-decade ‘Education for Sustainable Development’. This collaboration platform is our virtual information, exchange and documentation space. It offers the possibility to look for information and to add new documents, links and messages, yourself. Additionally, you can create your own ‘topics’ and invite people to them. This collaboration platform mirrors the purpose of ‘Between Lecture Hall and Project Work’, namely to support networking and exchange of views, ideas and knowledge among academics and practitioners from different disciplines and professions.
In order to access the platform you need to register as a new user, and choose your own UserID and password; neither will a username or password be provided by us nor should you, for security purposes, use your personal GTZ Intranet data. To open the workspaces, so called topics, you need to click on the 'catalog' button (right side below) and hit 'add'. The selected topics will then be shown on your topic-list on the left hand.
The 4 Summer School related topics and many others can be accessed by clicking 'add' next to the topic name in the topic catalog on the Getting Started page after logging in.
The topics 'GTZ/USSH - Summer School'(2004), Cairo Summer School (2005), Academia Amazônica (2005) give you an idea of the activities of three completed project activities; a look at their respective forum messages is particularly interesting! Inside the topic, Academia Andina participants are presently preparing the next Summer School, to take place later in 2006 in Lima, Peru. Feel free to add this topic to your personal list and participate in the process.
'Zwischen Hörsaal und Projekt 2005/2006' has just been completed and its library hosts a wealth of information right at your fingertips, especially if you are planning to submit a project for the next round.

This web application for collaborating and forming groups has been customized and made available through a cooperation agreement between the Berlin project "Zwischen Hörsaal und Projekt" and coachingplatform Inc. , a Canadian provider of online collaboration services. This environment is not a part of the official corporate GTZ website, and its users come from within GTZ and outside!
